Patience Series: Patience 1

Year: 2025

Technique: Acrylic Painting over sculpture

Size: Height 41 cm –  Width 52 cm  – Depth 13 cm (Framed)

This piece is the first in the Patience Series, depicting a lone figure seated inside the Tube. By obscuring the subject’s identity, I invite viewers to project their own interpretations, focusing instead on context and body language. This painting represents a turning point in my practice, where I embrace broader brushstrokes and a more open-ended approach, leaving details deliberately undefined. In doing so, I create space for the viewer’s imagination to complete the narrative.

About the Patience Series

Patience explores stillness, solitude, and mindfulness in contemporary urban life. By pixelating the faces of its subjects, the series invites viewers to project their interpretations, shifting the focus from identity to presence. Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, these paintings capture fleeting moments of quiet reflection in everyday settings, encouraging an acceptance of impermanence and the present moment.

Beyond the subjects themselves, Patience also reflects on the act of viewing. In an age of fleeting attention, the three-dimensional nature of these works challenges the audience to slow down and engage from multiple perspectives. As the painting subtly transforms with the viewer’s position, it invites a prolonged interaction—testing and cultivating the very patience it portrays
